Johnson Kendall Johnson (JKJ) is an independent insurance brokerage focused mainly on commercial lines, while also offering personal lines and benefits. The firm prioritizes leveraging technology, specifically looking for ways to streamline employee workflows and improve data visualization for both internal and external reporting.
Before Outmarket, JKJ's account management team spent significant time on tedious, manual tasks. Putting together a client proposal could take an employee two full days. Additionally, creating loss summaries was a long process, requiring staff to review years of loss data and manually draft a summary for the client.
On the data side, the firm relied on Excel to deliver claims analytics to clients, which was a very tedious process. Because the reporting took so much manual effort, it was difficult to scale the service to a large number of clients, despite the value it provided. JKJ was actively searching for software solutions for AI workflows and data structuring, but found that most Insurtech products only handled individual pieces of the puzzle.
JKJ initiated a six-month pilot of Outmarket with 10 employees of varying technical and insurance experience levels to test the product. Impressed by rapid improvements and the Outmarket team's responsiveness to feedback, JKJ rolled the software out to the entire commercial team, and eventually to their personal lines team.
Top-utilized Outmarket workflows include:
The implementation of Outmarket was a highly collaborative process. When JKJ required MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) and SSO (Single Sign-On) before expanding to the full team, Outmarket quickly adapted and built those capabilities to meet the agency's security needs. During the full rollout, the Outmarket team spent a couple of days on-site with JKJ to ensure everyone was properly trained and comfortable using the software.
Outmarket also proved to be an adaptable partner for department-specific operations. Outmarket’s head of product met directly with JKJ's head of personal lines to develop tailored workflows so that the personal lines team wouldn't have to rely solely on making edits to commercial workflows. Furthermore, Outmarket's engineers are working closely with JKJ on a months-long, all-hands-on-deck process to accurately transition their data-driven claims analysis over to the platform.
The adoption of Outmarket has delivered profound results across JKJ's operations:
"I think every single day I hear from a new team member on how much this is helping them. It's really speeding up their day-to-day and allowing them to be spread a little bit less thin."
— Yvette Jimenez | Data Project Manager, JKJ
1. On Software Consolidation: "We did see a couple different products that all did the individual pieces really well. But then when we came across Outmarket, they were doing all of it under one roof. Obviously that saves on cost, that saves on training. It became a no-brainer."
2. On Time-to-Value: "Before it would take them probably a couple of days to put together a proposal, now it's a matter of hours. Outmarket does that in a few minutes, they double check it, they make sure everything looks the way that it needs to look, and then it's ready to go out the door."
3. On Adaptability and Partnership: "Outmarket now feels like an important partner for where JKJ is headed, especially because they have been so adaptable. When we told them the issue that we had, they found a way to help us out."
4. On Tailored Solutions: "They have since developed even further their personal lines workflows and now we have workflows that are more tailored to personal lines and they don't have to maybe make as many edits as they would have using the commercial workflows. They're finding a lot more value in that."
