Redefining MSP

Though MSP typically stands for Managed Services Provider, our team at Rhodian Group would like to expand that definition to include More Security, Please.

MSPs typically offer services for hosting, monitoring, and maintaining IT environments, including hardware and software systems, as well as the networks that connect those systems. But not all MSPs offer cybersecurity services. Does that make any sense? We don’t think so, either.

Consider these two scenarios:

1. You buy a Maserati, a luxury car renowned for advanced engineering, elegant design, inimitable style, premium materials, powerful engines, and matchless performance. Then you leave it on the street with the windows down and the key fob on the seat. That’s the equivalent of what you’d be doing if you hired an MSP to host, monitor, and maintain your IT infrastructure without protecting it adequately.
2. You buy a Yugo, a car noted for its poor quality, its reliability issues, and a lack of maintenance support and customer service. These factors led to a rapid decline in sales and a reputation for it being one of the worst cars in history. Then you build a locked garage and install electronic security and a video-surveillance system to protect it. That’s the equivalent of what you’d be doing if you hired a cybersecurity firm to protect an outdated IT infrastructure that wasn’t hosted, monitored or managed adequately.

Compliance is Security, Too

In addition to managed IT and cybersecurity, we also provide compliance services. That means we identify your potential compliance risks and vulnerabilities, then prioritize and address them. It means we develop and implement policies and procedures that promote your compliance with ever-changing regulatory mandates and industry standards. And we help conduct audits to maintain your compliance and to identify areas for improvement. Along with improving your compliance, that also mitigates (if not eliminates) your exposure to noncompliance penalties and fines.

We also implement and maintain technical controls — firewalls and intrusion-detection systems, administrative controls‚ access controls and encryption – to support your compliance. We work with you and your team to educate you about noncompliance violations and risks, and we help you understand the importance of compliance and how to maintain it.

When it comes to MSP, we don’t know if More Security, Please will ever catch on. But whether it’s managed IT, cybersecurity, or compliance services, we’ll continue to provide all the operational peace of mind you need.
