As the owner of an insurance agency, I knew commission processing needed to be easier. I tried several different solutions, but never found one that really fit. So I created my own. EZ Commissions grew out of that need: a simpler, more streamlined way to get commissions done, with more time left to run an agency. It is already in use on my own agency’s book of business. Now I’m sharing it with other insurance professionals facing the same problem.

How EZ Commissions Helps Independent Agents & Brokers

EZ Commissions helps independent agents and brokers reconcile carrier commissions against their agency’s policy information. Agencies can upload PDF, Excel, and CSV statements without reformatting them into a special template, match statement details to policies, and review unmatched items and exceptions. Designed for small and midsized independent P&C agencies, it brings structure to commission reconciliation and helps teams focus on items that need attention.

AI Capabilities

EZ Commissions uses AI in two places, both within commission processing.

Statement layout mapping: when a carrier or MGA sends a statement in a format we have not seen before, the system proposes which column is which - policy number, premium, commission, rate. The proposal is shown next to the file and is applied only when the user confirms it; nothing is saved or reused until a person approves it. Once confirmed, that layout is reused automatically, so a carrier only needs this once.

Ask Your Commissions: plain-English questions answered from the agency's own commission data, such as "which carriers paid less at renewal than on new business last quarter?" The model answers only from queries run against that agency's own records, and the answer shows which queries produced each figure.

We use Anthropic's Claude via their API. Agency data is not used to train models. The layout-mapping feature sends the header row and a small sample of rows from the unrecognized statement, which is disclosed in our privacy policy.

Everything else - parsing, matching, reconciliation and ledger posting - is deterministic rule-based code, not AI.
