Catalyit Team Review

Helping Agencies Build an AMS Around Their Processes Instead of Adapting Their Processes to the AMS
Published: June 2026

What we like:

  • Nexsure's configurability stands out. Agencies can tailor workflows, forms, templates, automation, and work plans without requiring extensive custom development.
  • The platform was designed to support the full policy lifecycle, bringing submissions, marketing, policy servicing, accounting, reporting, and client communications into a single system.
  • Open APIs and a long history of third-party integrations provide agencies with flexibility when connecting raters, e-signature tools, communications platforms, and other technology investments.
  • Workflow automation appears to be a core design principle rather than an add-on. Renewal queues, triggered communications, work plans, and automated processes help reduce manual effort across the agency.
  • Nexsure has experience supporting a broad range of insurance distribution models, including retail agencies, wholesalers, agency networks, MGAs, and program administrators.

Things to consider:

  • Nexsure's flexibility is one of its strengths, but agencies should expect to invest time in configuration, workflow design, and implementation planning to maximize value.
  • Agencies looking for a highly prescriptive, out-of-the-box AMS experience may not fully utilize the platform's customization capabilities.
  • Larger and more operationally complex organizations are likely to realize greater value than agencies with very simple workflows.
  • As with any AMS conversion, data migration, process redesign, and user adoption will be critical factors in a successful implementation.

Summary

Nexsure is an agency management system built around a simple but important idea: every agency operates differently. Rather than forcing agencies into rigid workflows, Nexsure focuses on giving organizations the ability to configure the system around how they sell, service, market, and manage business.

Why should agencies care? Many growing agencies eventually reach a point where spreadsheets, workarounds, disconnected systems, and manual processes begin creating operational drag. Nexsure aims to centralize those activities while providing automation and visibility across the entire policy lifecycle.

What stood out during our review was the platform's emphasis on configurability and workflow management. Many AMS solutions talk about automation. Nexsure appears particularly focused on giving agencies control over how that automation is designed and executed within their own organization.

We also came away with the impression that Nexsure was built with larger operational considerations in mind, including accounting, reporting, integrations, communications, submissions, and policy servicing within a unified environment.

Key Features:

  • Configurable workflows and work plans
  • Submission, marketing, and quoting management
  • Full policy lifecycle management
  • Integrated accounting and commission tracking
  • Automated client communications and outreach
  • Reporting, dashboards, and operational analytics
  • Open APIs and third-party integrations
  • Cloud-based delivery with ongoing updates
  • Renewal management and automation tools
  • Multi-role support across agencies, wholesalers, and MGAs

Best fit for:

  • Mid-sized to large independent agencies
  • Agencies with complex commercial lines workflows
  • Organizations seeking significant workflow automation
  • Multi-location agencies requiring operational consistency
  • Agencies that want to customize processes rather than follow rigid system workflows

May not be ideal for:

  • Very small agencies seeking only basic AMS functionality
  • Agencies looking for a highly standardized out-of-the-box workflow model
  • Organizations unwilling to invest time in configuration and process design
  • Agencies expecting immediate value without implementation planning and change management

Deeper Dive

The Problem Being Solved: As agencies grow, operational complexity increases. Producers, account managers, service teams, and leadership often find themselves working across multiple systems while manually managing submissions, renewals, communications, accounting, and reporting.

Nexsure is designed to bring those activities together into a single operating environment while reducing reliance on manual processes and disconnected workflows.

Why It Matters to Agencies: Operational efficiency has become a competitive advantage. Agencies that can process submissions faster, manage renewals more consistently, automate repetitive tasks, and gain better visibility into performance are often better positioned to scale.

Nexsure's combination of workflow automation, policy management, accounting, reporting, and connectivity is intended to help agencies create a more streamlined operation without relying on numerous standalone solutions.

What Stood Out to Us: What stood out during our review was not a single feature but the platform's philosophy around flexibility.

Many AMS platforms require agencies to adapt their workflows to the software. Nexsure appears to take the opposite approach by allowing agencies to configure workflows, forms, templates, and processes around their own operational model. For organizations with unique service models, specialized commercial workflows, or complex operational requirements, that flexibility could be meaningful.

Final Thoughts

We came away impressed by Nexsure's focus on configurability and workflow control. While many agency management systems emphasize feature breadth, Nexsure appears particularly focused on helping agencies shape the platform around their own operational needs rather than forcing standardization.

We also appreciate the platform's broad operational scope. Submission management, policy servicing, accounting, communications, reporting, and automation all appear to be part of a unified strategy rather than separate point solutions.

For agency leaders evaluating AMS modernization efforts, Nexsure is worth consideration—especially for organizations that have outgrown rigid systems, rely heavily on customized workflows, or want greater control over how work moves through the agency. The agencies most likely to benefit are those willing to invest in designing processes that take full advantage of the platform's flexibility.
