Catalyit Team Review

Helping agencies protect specialty risks without adding specialty workload
Updated: August 2026

What we like:

  • Creates a practical stand-alone option for jewelry and watches: Agencies can offer clients dedicated coverage rather than automatically scheduling valuable jewelry onto a homeowners policy.
  • Keeps the agency involved without creating significant servicing work: BriteCo handles payments, commissions, renewals, claims, and other policy administration after placement.
  • The quoting process is built for occasional specialty business: Agents have a dedicated online portal with quotes and underwriting decisions available quickly, making it practical to handle jewelry opportunities without becoming specialty-jewelry experts.
  • Stand-alone coverage can help separate jewelry losses from the homeowners relationship: BriteCo states that jewelry claims are not reported to CLUE or A-PLUS, which is particularly relevant as agencies become more cautious about homeowners claim activity.
  • Wedding and event coverage expands the client conversation: Agents can also offer liability and cancellation coverage for weddings and other milestone events through a similarly streamlined process.

Things to consider:

  • This is a niche-market solution. The value depends on how often the agency encounters clients with meaningful jewelry, watch, wedding, or event exposures.
  • Agents should compare coverage, not just convenience or premium. Stand-alone jewelry coverage should be evaluated against homeowners endorsements and other specialty markets based on the client's actual needs.
  • The agency gives BriteCo much of the post-sale relationship. That reduces workload, but agencies should understand how claims, renewals, client communication, and service are handled after placement.
  • Workflow fit still matters. Agencies should determine how quoting, documentation, commissions, and policy information will fit into their AMS and existing service procedures.

Summary

Jewelry can create an awkward coverage decision for independent agents. Scheduling a valuable ring, watch, or collection onto the homeowners policy may be convenient, but it also connects that exposure and its potential claims to an increasingly important homeowners relationship.

BriteCo gives agencies another option. Its stand-alone jewelry and watch policies can be quoted through an agent portal, while BriteCo handles much of the administration after the policy is written. The company also offers wedding and event insurance, giving agencies another specialty solution for clients with milestone-event exposures.

Why should agencies care? Specialty products can strengthen the client relationship, but they aren't always attractive if placing a relatively small policy creates significant quoting, billing, renewal, and service work. BriteCo's model is designed to keep that workload relatively light for the agency.

What stood out during our review is the combination of specialized coverage and limited agency administration. The agent can identify the exposure and provide an option without having to build an internal process for servicing a niche book of jewelry or event policies.

Key Features:

  • Stand-alone jewelry and watch insurance
  • Wedding and special-event insurance
  • Dedicated agent quoting portal
  • Fast quoting and underwriting decision
  • No production quotas for agent appointments
  • Automated jewelry renewal limit updates
  • BriteCo-managed payments, commissions, renewals, and claims
  • Digital and print agent marketing support

Best fit for:

  • Personal-lines agencies regularly serving clients with valuable jewelry and watches
  • Agencies looking for a stand-alone alternative to scheduling jewelry on a homeowners policy
  • Agencies concerned about keeping jewelry claims separate from homeowners claims reporting
  • Agencies wanting specialty products without building internal servicing expertise around them
  • Producers looking to address wedding and event exposures as part of broader client relationships

May not be ideal for:

  • Agencies that rarely encounter jewelry, watch, wedding, or event insurance opportunities
  • Agencies that prefer to keep valuable articles coverage entirely within their existing homeowners markets
  • Organizations wanting to retain direct control over every aspect of claims, renewal, and policy servicing
  • Agencies whose workflow requires deeper AMS connectivity or policy administration than BriteCo's agent model provides

Deeper Dive

The Problem Being Solved: Independent agencies routinely uncover valuable jewelry during personal-lines conversations, but the most obvious placement isn't always the only option.

A ring, watch, or jewelry collection can often be scheduled onto a homeowners policy. That keeps the account together, but it also means the jewelry exposure remains connected to the homeowners policy.

BriteCo provides dedicated jewelry and watch coverage outside the homeowners contract.

That distinction has become more relevant as agencies and clients pay closer attention to homeowners claims. BriteCo states that its jewelry claims aren't reported to CLUE or A-PLUS, allowing the jewelry loss to remain separate from that reporting history.

The operational side matters too. An agency may not want to devote substantial employee time to a relatively small specialty policy. BriteCo handles much of the work after placement, making it easier for an agency to offer the coverage without creating a new servicing specialty.

Why It Matters to Agencies: The opportunity here isn't simply selling another policy.

When a client owns a significant engagement ring, luxury watch, or jewelry collection, the agency should be able to discuss how that property is protected and whether a stand-alone solution makes sense.

BriteCo gives producers another option for that conversation.

Its standard jewelry policies include worldwide coverage for risks including loss, theft, damage, and mysterious disappearance, with no deductible on standard policies and replacement coverage up to 125% of appraised value. Automated limit updates are intended to help the coverage keep pace with changes in jewelry values.

The wedding and event offering creates a similar opportunity around another exposure that can otherwise fall outside the agency's normal workflow. Clients can obtain liability and cancellation protection for an event without the agency having to develop its own specialty-event process.

For us, the agency value is breadth without significant operational burden: identify the exposure, offer an appropriate specialty option, and let the specialty provider handle much of what happens afterward.

What Stood Out to Us: What stood out during our review is how intentionally BriteCo has built its agent model around making a niche product easy for independent agencies to offer.

There are no production quotas, the appointment process is designed to be straightforward, and agents use a dedicated portal for quoting. BriteCo then handles commissions, renewals, claims, and related administration.

We also think the homeowners distinction deserves attention. BriteCo's stand-alone structure and its stated practice of not reporting jewelry claims to CLUE or A-PLUS give agents another consideration when discussing how valuable items should be insured—particularly in homeowners markets where claims history has become increasingly consequential.

Wedding and event insurance broadens BriteCo beyond jewelry, but we still see jewelry and watches as the clearest agency use case. Both offerings share the same basic idea: give an independent agent access to specialized protection without requiring the agency to become a specialist in servicing that niche.

For us, that's BriteCo's differentiation: the agency can expand the protection conversation without expanding its workload by the same amount.

Final Thoughts

We came away seeing BriteCo as a practical specialty-market relationship rather than another major piece of agency technology. Its value is giving producers somewhere to go when a client has valuable jewelry, a watch, or an upcoming event without creating a disproportionate amount of work for the agency.

We particularly like the stand-alone jewelry option as part of a broader homeowners conversation. Separating the jewelry exposure from the homeowners policy won't be the right answer for every client, but in today's property market it is an option agencies should understand.

For an agency principal, BriteCo is worth further evaluation if your personal-lines team encounters valuable jewelry but doesn't have a consistent stand-alone solution—or if employees avoid these smaller specialty opportunities because they're cumbersome to place and service. If BriteCo gives producers an easy option while keeping most of the administrative work outside the agency, it can fill a useful niche in the agency's market portfolio.
