Sembley tackles the "death of process" in insurance workflows

The Rundown

In a recent Coffee Chat, Catalyit Technology Advisor Brandon Oliveira sat down with Sembley Co-Founder & Director of Sales Joseph Ems to discuss how the platform is simplifying one of insurance's most persistent pain points: getting client information into applications and the systems agencies use every day. Sembley's approach centers on collecting data once and creating a single source of truth that can follow the submission wherever it needs to go.

The Context

  • Ems identified two major bottlenecks for agencies: inconsistent intake processes and the repetitive work of completing ACORD forms and supplemental applications. Sembley standardizes intake so information can be collected once and reused throughout the submission process.
  • Sembley's Document AI can extract information from documents such as dec pages, policies, loss runs, and SOVs to automatically populate intakes and applications, reducing manual data entry for both agency staff and clients.
  • Integrations with agency management systems, CRMs, and other insurance technology allow information to move between platforms, helping Sembley serve as what Ems described as the agency's "front door of intake."
  • Ems said Sembley's differentiator is its "single source of truth." Once information enters the platform, whether from a client, agent, integration, or AI tool, Sembley is designed to reuse and map that data without requiring agencies to repeatedly re-key it. As Ems put it, "the death of process is re-entry."
  • Sembley is also rolling out Sidecar, a new capability designed to pull data from webpages into Sembley and push existing Sembley data into external systems, including carrier quoting portals.

Why it Matters

Agencies have invested in management systems, CRMs, raters, carrier technology, and other tools, but disconnected data can still create time-consuming manual work between them. Sembley is tackling that gap by making information reusable across the submission process, helping agencies spend less time entering the same data and more time serving clients.
