A compromise doesn’t have to be malicious. Here’s something to keep in mind:
- An employee can send sensitive data to the wrong person by mistake (compromise of confidentiality)
- A flaw in a process can cause you to no longer be able to trust that process until its resolved (compromise of integrity)
- A system you rely on can go down from a bad update (compromise of availability)
This is easily overlooked and something I found interesting when I first started working in cybersecurity. We are so busy worrying about the bad guys that we forget things just go wrong sometimes.
From Verizon’s 2024 Data Breach Investigations Report:
👉 More than two-thirds (68%) of breaches globally involve a non-malicious human action.
For this reason, please be thorough when you work on cybersecurity to not miss areas of risk like this.
Follow a framework and get help from people who are familiar with them.

Best of luck out there to Crowdstrike users!
