Helping agencies collect quote-ready prospect data once and move it into the systems that need it
Updated: August 2026
What we like:
- Focuses on the front end of the quoting workflow: SALT addresses the work that happens before rating—collecting complete, usable prospect information without relying on repeated emails, texts, and phone calls.
- Supports both client-driven and agent-driven intake: Prospects can complete branded digital forms themselves, while Live Intake allows an agency employee to collect the same information during a phone or in-person conversation.
- Enriches information instead of asking every question: Public-record data, current policy information, and other third-party sources can supplement prospect-provided information and reduce unnecessary data entry.
- Routes data into the agency's existing technology: Integrations with comparative raters, CRM/AMS platforms, data providers, Zapier, and webhooks allow SALT to function as an intake layer rather than another system where information stops.
- Creates a shared submissions workspace: Agencies can organize, assign, track, and follow up on incoming submissions, giving teams visibility into opportunities before they reach the quoting stage.
Things to consider:
- Integration fit should drive the evaluation. Agencies should verify how SALT connects with the specific rater, CRM, AMS, and other systems used in their workflow.
- SALT doesn't replace the AMS, CRM, or comparative rater. Its value comes from improving the intake process and moving better data into those downstream systems.
- Agencies still need to design the intake experience. Forms, required questions, handoffs, assignments, and follow-up should reflect how the agency actually sells and quotes business.
- Data-enrichment capabilities can involve additional usage considerations. Agencies should understand which third-party data sources they intend to use and how credits, costs, and permissions apply.
Summary
Before an agency can quote an insurance prospect, someone has to collect the information. That sounds simple, but incomplete web forms, phone calls, emails, texts, declaration pages, and follow-up questions can turn intake into one of the most inefficient parts of the sales process.
SALT is designed to improve that front end. Prospects or agency employees can provide information through structured digital forms, SALT can supplement that information with outside data, and completed submissions can then move into connected raters, CRMs, AMSs, and other workflows.
Why should agencies care? A comparative rater only saves time after the agency has the information needed to use it. If producers are still spending significant time chasing declaration pages, collecting driver and property information, and rekeying prospect data before they can quote, there is still considerable friction upstream.
What stood out during our review is how clearly SALT now positions itself as the layer between prospect intake and the rest of the agency's technology. Rather than trying to become another AMS or CRM, SALT focuses on making the information entering those systems more complete, structured, and useful.
Key Features:
- Customizable digital intake forms
- Live Intake for phone and in-person conversations
- Prospect and agency-assisted data collection
- Public-record and third-party data enrichment
- Declaration page retrieval
- Submission organization, assignment, and tracking
- Comparative rater and CRM/AMS integrations
- Zapier and webhook-based workflow automation
Best fit for:
- Personal-lines agencies with meaningful new-business quoting volume
- Agencies where producers or CSRs spend significant time collecting information before they can begin quoting
- Growth-oriented agencies using comparative raters and wanting cleaner data flowing into the rating process
- Agencies looking for both self-service and employee-assisted intake using a common workflow
- Agencies wanting prospect information to move from intake into CRM, AMS, rating, and automation tools without repeated rekeying
May not be ideal for:
- Agencies with very low new-business intake volume
- Agencies whose existing lead-to-quote process already collects complete information with little employee involvement
- Agencies whose critical downstream systems don't provide the integration path they need
- Teams looking for SALT to replace their CRM, AMS, or comparative rater rather than improve the workflow feeding those systems
Deeper Dive
The Problem Being Solved: Agencies frequently focus on making the quoting process faster while overlooking what happens immediately before the quote.
A prospect submits a basic lead form. A producer calls for additional information. The client sends a declaration page. Someone asks follow-up questions by text. An employee then enters all of that information into the comparative rater.
SALT is designed to consolidate that intake process.
The agency creates forms that collect the information needed for the intended workflow. Prospects can complete those forms through a shared link, or an employee can use Live Intake while speaking with the prospect.
SALT can then enrich the submission with additional information before sending it downstream.
The result is a cleaner handoff between “I'm interested in a quote” and “we have enough information to start quoting.”
Why It Matters to Agencies: Quoting capacity isn't determined only by how quickly a rater returns prices. If a producer spends 20 minutes gathering and cleaning up information before every quote, speeding up the rating transaction doesn't solve the entire problem.
Better intake can reduce that front-end work. It can also improve consistency because every producer isn't relying on a different checklist or deciding independently which questions to ask.
We also see value in the flexibility between digital and live intake. Not every prospect wants to complete a form, and agencies shouldn't have to force every opportunity into the same consumer experience. Live Intake lets the employee collect information conversationally while still using the same structured process and integrations behind the scenes.
Once collected, the information can move to systems such as comparative raters, AgencyZoom, HawkSoft, or other connected tools rather than requiring employees to re-enter it.
What Stood Out to Us: What stood out during our review is how much SALT has evolved from the product we reviewed in 2023.
The original story was largely about a prospect completing a Home or Auto application and pushing that information toward a comparative rater. The current platform is more clearly built as an agency-wide intake layer.
SALT now supports integrations across several categories, including comparative raters, CRM/AMS platforms, data providers, underwriting workflows, Zapier, and webhooks. That gives agencies more flexibility in determining where information should go after it is collected.
Declaration page retrieval is another practical capability. Through its MeasureOne integration, SALT can retrieve current policy information rather than requiring an employee to chase the prospect for documents and manually pull information from them.
We also like the combination of consumer-verified, public-record, and current-policy data. The goal isn't simply to ask prospects to complete a better form. It's to determine which information should come from the prospect, which can come from trusted outside sources, and then deliver a more complete submission to the employee who needs to quote it.
For us, that's SALT's differentiation: it treats intake as an agency workflow and data problem—not simply as an online form.
Final Thoughts
We came away seeing SALT as much more than the digital personal-lines application we reviewed several years ago. Its clearer role today is as the front door to the agency's quoting technology—collecting information, enriching it, organizing the submission, and getting that data into the systems where employees actually work.
Live Intake and declaration page retrieval make the story particularly practical because they recognize that prospects don't all arrive through the same channel or with the same information. Agencies can create a more consistent intake process without requiring every client to behave the same way.
For an agency principal, SALT is worth further evaluation if your producers have good rating technology but still spend too much time getting prospects ready to quote. We would map the workflow from new lead to quote-ready submission and identify every place employees chase information or re-enter data. If most of that friction happens before the comparative rater, SALT is addressing the right part of the process.
