Catalyit Team Review

Data Collection Platform with Efficiency Focus on Mainstream Personal Lines Applications
Published: January 11, 2023

What we like:

  • Easy to use
  • Saves agency staff time spent on completion of applications
  • They have a well-defined market and stick to doing what they do best
  • Allows either employee or prospect to complete applications

Things to consider:

  • No two-way integration with multi-raters
  • Can’t add carrier specific questions

Summary:
SALT is a data collection application that provides an innovative approach for agencies to get home and auto applications completed more quickly and efficiently. They accomplish this by pulling a significant percentage of the required application data and automatically fill in the blanks for you.

For example, once you enter the home address, SALT will access various large databases of public information and complete most of the fields that pertain to the home. This results in saving time completing the forms as well as improving the accuracy of the information entered. The applications are web-based and located on the agent’s website. The same web pages that an agency employee uses to complete an application are the same pages a prospect uses if they prefer to complete the data themselves without having an employee involved. This can be done via the agency website using a link that the agency sends the prospect.

SALT is neither an automated marketing program nor a CRM (Contact Relationship Management) so you will still need a prospect-generating tool. However, they can help an agency more effectively manage the data collection process.

There is some limited one-way integration with rating systems. This list currently includes Applied Epic, PL Rater, and EZLynx.

The setup of the system appears simple and straightforward. The forms are pre-built and ready to use. Each form has a thorough list of pre-determined questions for the auto and homeowner applications. You, as the administrator, will go through the list and decide which questions you want your prospect to complete. Templates can also be created and saved for specific purposes.

SALT’s target agency is growth-minded that continues to invest in growing personal lines business. They continue this part of their culture by offering a no-contract agreement – it is a month-to-month subscription. Their pricing model is based on the number of users in your agency and all the information, including pricing, is right on their website.

SALT is very clear on what they do – mainstream personal lines (1 home and 2 autos). This should be first viewed as an agency efficiency tool before a consumer access tool.
