Catalyit Team Review

Helping established agencies connect service, accounting, and operations around one system of record
Updated: August 2026

What we like:

  • Strong insurance accounting foundation: AMS360 combines client and policy management with billing, reconciliation, producer commissions, general ledger, and financial reporting, giving agencies an operational and financial system of record.
  • Deep carrier connectivity: Policy, endorsement, claims, and renewal downloads can reduce duplicate entry and help keep policy information current.
  • Broad agency workflow coverage: Service, renewals, certificates, accounting, reporting, document management, and client communications can all connect back to AMS360.
  • Expanding automation inside core workflows: Vertafore is bringing automation directly into AMS360, including Email and Reconciliation Agents designed to reduce manual work around incoming communications and carrier statement reconciliation.
  • A growing connected ecosystem: AMS360 can serve as the foundation for AgencyOne and connects with other Vertafore solutions and third-party technology, giving agencies room to build beyond the core AMS.

Things to consider:

  • Implementation should be treated as an operational project, not simply a software installation. Agencies will get more from AMS360 when workflows, data standards, roles, and training are clearly defined.
  • Smaller or less complex agencies may not need the full depth of the platform. Agencies with straightforward workflows should compare the operational capabilities they will actually use against other AMS systems.
  • The broader Vertafore ecosystem is part of the value proposition. Agencies should understand which capabilities are native to AMS360, which come through AgencyOne or other Vertafore products, and which require third-party integrations.
  • Automation still requires process discipline. New AI-assisted capabilities can reduce repetitive work, but agencies should determine where automation fits their workflows and establish appropriate review and oversight.

Summary

AMS360 is built to serve as the operational center of an independent insurance agency, bringing client and policy information, service workflows, accounting, carrier connectivity, reporting, and related processes into one system.

That matters because an AMS touches nearly every part of an agency. The value of AMS360 is less about any single feature and more about giving service teams, accounting staff, producers, and leadership a common foundation for running the business.

What stood out during our review is how Vertafore is extending that foundation. AgencyOne is designed to connect AMS360 data and workflows with other Vertafore and third-party solutions, while newer Email and Reconciliation Agents target two very practical sources of agency workload: processing incoming email and reconciling carrier statements.

We see AMS360 as particularly relevant for established agencies that need meaningful accounting capabilities, carrier connectivity, structured workflows, and the ability to connect a broader technology ecosystem around their management system.

Key Features:

  • Client and policy management
  • Policy, endorsement, claims, and renewal downloads
  • Insurance-specific accounting and general ledger
  • Billing, payment tracking, reconciliation, and producer commissions
  • Renewal workflows, alerts, and task management
  • Reporting, financial reporting, and agency performance insights
  • API and third-party integration capabilities
  • Embedded and connected automation through Vertafore’s broader platform

Best fit for:

  • Established independent agencies needing a comprehensive AMS with integrated accounting
  • Agencies with enough policy and transaction volume to benefit from carrier downloads and structured workflows
  • Multi-user or multi-department agencies that need a common operational system of record
  • Agencies already using—or interested in building around—the broader Vertafore ecosystem
  • Agencies looking to introduce more automation while keeping client, policy, and financial data at the center of their workflows

May not be ideal for:

  • Very small agencies whose management and accounting needs are relatively simple
  • Agencies looking primarily for a lightweight, minimal-configuration AMS
  • Teams unwilling to invest time in workflow design, training, data quality, and consistent system adoption
  • Agencies that prefer a technology strategy largely independent of a broader platform ecosystem

Deeper Dive

The Problem Being Solved: As agencies grow, information and work can become fragmented across carrier portals, email, accounting processes, spreadsheets, documents, and specialized technology.

AMS360 provides a central system for managing the client and policy record while connecting many of the workflows surrounding it. Carrier downloads reduce rekeying, accounting is tied closely to agency operations, and reporting gives leadership visibility into both operational and financial performance.

For agencies with multiple departments or significant transaction volume, that centralized foundation can become increasingly important.

Why It Matters to Agencies: An AMS is difficult to evaluate solely from a feature checklist because its real impact depends on how consistently the agency uses it.

AMS360 gives agencies considerable depth across service and accounting. That can help standardize how work gets completed, reduce duplicate entry, improve access to client information, and give management better visibility into the business.

Its accounting capabilities are especially important to the AMS360 story. Billing and invoicing, producer commission calculations, reconciliation, general ledger, and financial reporting are connected to the same operational environment used to manage clients and policies.

What Stood Out to Us: What stood out during our review is the direction Vertafore is taking around the core AMS.

Rather than treating AMS360 as an isolated management system, Vertafore is using it as the foundation for AgencyOne, which is intended to connect systems, data, and workflows across the agency. Certificates are one example, using real-time AMS360 data in a connected workflow.

We also paid attention to the practical focus of the newer automation. The Email Agent interprets incoming messages and can initiate appropriate AMS workflows, while the Reconciliation Agent is designed to match carrier statements against agency transactions. These are tangible, high-volume agency processes where reducing manual handling could matter.

Final Thoughts

We came away seeing AMS360 as more than a place to store policies and client records. Its combination of insurance accounting, carrier connectivity, service workflows, reporting, and integrations gives established agencies a substantial operational foundation.

The more interesting development is what Vertafore is building around that foundation. AgencyOne and newer workflow automation suggest AMS360 is evolving toward a more connected operating environment, while still keeping the AMS record at the center.

For an agency principal evaluating management systems, AMS360 deserves further consideration when operational depth, accounting, carrier connectivity, and the ability to support a broader technology ecosystem are priorities. The evaluation should focus not only on what AMS360 can do, but on how well its workflows and surrounding Vertafore ecosystem match the way your agency intends to operate.
