Catalyit Team Review

Helping growing agencies bring structure to client, policy, workflow, and sales management without overcomplicating the AMS
Updated: August 2026

What we like:

  • Approachable for growing agencies: QQCatalyst's organized interface and ready-to-use workflows make adoption manageable without extensive AMS configuration.
  • Centralizes everyday agency information: Client records, policies, documents, tasks, alerts, carrier data, and employee activity live in one common environment.
  • Built-in workflow automation: Agencies can automate repetitive processes, emails, tasks, and follow-ups instead of relying on employees to track next steps.
  • Sales management included in the core platform: An integrated pipeline gives producers and leadership visibility into opportunities without needing a separate CRM.
  • Connects to the broader Vertafore ecosystem: PL Rating and other integrations extend quoting and additional workflows around the management system.

Things to consider:

  • Let operational complexity guide the decision: Larger agencies with sophisticated accounting, commercial-lines, or reporting needs should compare QQCatalyst carefully against more robust enterprise systems.
  • Evaluate accounting workflows in detail: Teams needing deep agency accounting should confirm how QQCatalyst and connected tools fit billing, reconciliation, commission, and financial-reporting requirements.
  • Test integrations, don't assume them: Agencies should verify the depth of connectivity with their specific carriers, rating tools, CRM, accounting platform, and other critical technology.
  • Ease of use doesn't replace process discipline: Agencies still need consistent standards for activities, documents, downloads, tasks, and client data for reliable reporting and automation.

Summary

Growing agencies eventually reach a point where spreadsheets, inboxes, shared folders, and individual employee processes no longer provide enough structure. Client and policy information needs a reliable home, employees need consistent workflows, and leadership needs visibility into what is happening across the business.

QQCatalyst is designed to provide that foundation without requiring the level of complexity some larger management systems bring. It centralizes client and policy information while supporting carrier downloads, documents, tasks, workflow automation, reporting, and sales management.

Why should agencies care? The AMS becomes the operational memory of the agency. When information and follow-up depend too heavily on individual employees, growth becomes harder to manage and service becomes less consistent.

What stood out during our review is Vertafore's renewed emphasis on the fundamentals. The newer QQCatalyst experience focuses on policy management, dependable downloads, clean carrier data, streamlined workflows, and an interface intended to be easier for employees to adopt. We think that's the right priority for an AMS serving growing agencies.

Key Features:

  • Client and policy management
  • Carrier policy and related downloads
  • Document and activity management
  • Customizable dashboards
  • Task and workflow automation
  • Integrated sales pipeline management
  • 50+ pre-built and customizable reports
  • Integrations with PL Rating and other agency technology

Best fit for:

  • Small and growing independent agencies ready for a structured cloud-based AMS
  • Personal-lines-focused agencies that can benefit from close connectivity with PL Rating
  • Agencies wanting client management, workflows, reporting, and basic sales pipeline functionality in one environment
  • Teams prioritizing ease of adoption and straightforward day-to-day AMS workflows
  • Agencies looking for a management system that can serve as the foundation for additional Vertafore and third-party technology

May not be ideal for:

  • Large or highly complex agencies requiring extensive organizational and financial-management capabilities
  • Commercial-heavy agencies with sophisticated commercial workflow requirements that extend beyond QQCatalyst's intended use
  • Agencies requiring deep native accounting capabilities
  • Organizations whose critical carrier or technology integrations don't align well with the available connectivity

Deeper Dive

The Problem Being Solved: An agency management system has a basic but important job: give the organization one reliable place to understand the client relationship and manage the work surrounding it.

That becomes increasingly difficult as an agency grows. Documents end up in different locations. Tasks are tracked individually. Policy information has to be retrieved from carrier systems. Producers manage opportunities separately. Leadership has difficulty seeing what employees are working on or where growth is coming from.

QQCatalyst brings those activities into a common operating environment.

Client and policy data is centralized, carrier information can download into the system, employees can manage tasks and documents, workflows can automate routine activity, and leadership can use dashboards and reports to monitor the agency.

For growing agencies, the value is less about any single advanced feature and more about creating repeatable structure before the organization becomes operationally complicated.

Why It Matters to Agencies: An AMS should make everyday work easier to execute consistently. QQCatalyst gives employees a central view of client and policy information along with alerts, tasks, and upcoming activity. Automation can handle repetitive workflows and communications, while managers can monitor productivity and workload.

The built-in sales pipeline is also useful for agencies that want more visibility into new business without immediately adding a separate CRM. Producers can manage opportunities while leadership tracks pipeline activity and performance.

Reporting extends that visibility into the broader book. Vertafore currently provides more than 50 pre-built and customizable reports, allowing agencies to look at production, clients, and other operating information.

We see that combination as particularly relevant during growth. Agencies need enough structure to standardize the organization without making the management system itself unnecessarily difficult to operate.

What Stood Out to Us: What stood out during our review is the focus on strengthening QQCatalyst's core AMS experience.

Vertafore's newer QQCatalyst experience emphasizes straightforward policy management, reliable policy downloads, and cleaner carrier data. Those may not sound as exciting as adding another technology category, but they are fundamental to whether employees trust and consistently use the management system.

We also like the balance between built-in capabilities and integrations. QQCatalyst includes dashboards, workflow automation, reporting, and sales pipeline management while connecting with tools such as PL Rating when an agency needs more specialized functionality.

That creates a logical progression for a growing agency: establish QQCatalyst as the operational foundation, then connect additional technology where the business case justifies it.

For us, that's QQCatalyst's differentiation: it aims to give growing agencies enough AMS structure and automation to operate consistently without forcing them into a more complex management environment before they need one.

Final Thoughts

We came away seeing QQCatalyst as a management system focused on getting the fundamentals right for growing independent agencies. Centralized client and policy data, reliable carrier information, workflow automation, reporting, and sales visibility address the operational structure agencies need as they add employees and clients.

We also like Vertafore's current emphasis on strengthening the core experience. An AMS doesn't create value simply by accumulating more features. Employees need to trust the data, understand the interface, and consistently use the workflows. QQCatalyst's direction appears focused on those practical requirements.

For an agency principal, QQCatalyst is worth further evaluation when your agency needs more operational structure but doesn't necessarily need the depth of a larger enterprise-oriented AMS. We would compare it against the complexity of your business today and where you expect to be in the next several years. If QQCatalyst provides enough policy management, workflow, reporting, sales, and integration depth without adding unnecessary complexity, that's where we see its strongest fit.
